Location of the Arena

The Charlotte Bobcats Arena is located in Center City Charlotte, North Carolina.  Trade Street, Fifth Street, Caldwell Street, and Charlotte’s proposed Light Rail Transit (LTR) line border the arena site.  It is located directly across Trade Street from the Charlotte Transportation Center, the focal point of bus services operated by CATS.  In spring 2007, CATS will begin LRT operations in South Corridor, providing direct passenger service to the arena.

The Charlotte Bobcats Arena is within walking distance to over 4,000 hotel rooms and 150 restaurants.  The facility is convenient to 55,000 Center City Charlotte employees and 10,000 Center City residents.

Nearly 40,000 off-street parking spaces are located within a 15-minute walking distance of the Charlotte Bobcats Arena.

Parking around the Arena

Based on parking inventories conducted by CDOT, nearly 40,000 off street parking spaces are located within a 15-minute walk of the Charlotte Bobcats Arena.  Over 80 percent of these spaces are public spaces and available for use by arena visitors.  Event private spaces reserved for company employees or visitors during the day could be made available for spectators attending evening arena events.  The following table summarizes parking supply by walk zone.

Lane Closures

In order to accommodate pedestrian surges before and after a major event at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena, the following traffic lanes will be closed to vehicular traffic:

• North side of Trade Street between Brevard and College Streets.
• East side of Brevard Street between Trade Street and Fourth Street
• West side of Brevard Street between Third Street and Fourth Street
• South side of Fifth Street between College Street and Light Rail Line.
  
  

Special Drop-Off and Pick-Up Locations

Event attendees being dropped off by handicap accessible vehicles or limousines will have access to an authorized drop-off and pick-up area on the south side of Fifth Street between the Light Rail line and Caldwell Street.  Vehicles using this location must have authorized license plates or placards.  Parents dropping off children also will use this area along Fifth Street.
